Chris and Jessica

Chris + Jessica

Courtyard @ Lake Lucerne :: Orlando, FL

Chris and Jessica’s wedding was quite lovely with a sort of antique whimsy style.  Do you remember their engagement session?  They totally nailed the woodsy feel with this luscious courtyard venue.  Keep scrolling for amazing photos and stories from the love birds!

Ballet hands Jess, BALLET HANDS!

This has to be my favorite crazy sock groomsmen photo ever.  Chris-Jessica-(98)Chris-Jessica-(131)Chris-Jessica-(137)

So Jessica, how did you guys meet?

“Chris and I met at my house at a dinner party and game night I had back in 2010. He worked with Amy and her boyfriend Steve; and Amy was the one that introduced us! We hung out off and on for a few months before we started dating. I really liked how funny and patient Chris was, he always made me laugh so easily and whenever I wanted to put my foot through my computer or TV or phone or other piece of technology he was there to calm me down and save the day. Chris really liked that I was fun and outgoing (he had a few beers at bowling tonight, so the only other thing I’m getting out of him is that he thought I was pretty, lol) but I’m pretty sure the fact that I could cook is in there somewhere. Our relationship has always been easy, and for the most part full of laughing and teasing and fun.”

How did Chris propose?

“Chris proposed in the fall of 2013 at the Crowne Plaza on Melbourne beach. We had an 8th floor balcony overlooking the ocean, and Chris got up early to film a time lapse of the sunrise over the ocean. He woke me up after he got the camera set up and made sure I had my glasses on before coming out. When I looked over the balcony, “Will You Marry Me?” was spelled out in 8′ tall letters in the sand (I would totally have missed it without my glasses, lol). I burst into tears, hugged him, and of course said yes. Chris managed to arrange for a dozen long stem roses and champagne on ice to be delivered to our door right after the proposal. He surprised the crap out of me, since no one expects to be proposed to in your jammies with yesterday’s mascara on and your hair piled on top of your head in a bun. But it was exciting, and fun, and I couldn’t tell the story of the proposal for MONTHS without getting a bit blubbery from all the happy emotion. And who helped him dig the letters in the sand and have the flowers and bubbly delivered? None other than our match-maker friends Amy and Steve! They of course were in the wedding party. =)”

Sweet sweet moment.  Seriously people, outdoor wedding entrances are a photographer’s dream!

So, looking back, what do you think about the big day?

The wedding planning was generally low stress. There were very few things I was ever picky about. This is probably because I never really had an ideal dream wedding. I never had this image in my mind of what things should be like, only ideas of how I wanted the day to feel. I chose a theme of neutral colors, a vintage feel, and we ran with it. Chris picked the location, the location determined the size of the wedding, we picked the food together. We had friends who were nice (and talented enough) to provide photography and music.  And my mom and sister were crafty enough to fill in the rest of the details. After that, there wasn’t much to do! My dress was a Sarah Seven called Swell, and the bridesmaids were in Jenny Yoo ‘Anabelle’. The groomsmen were in Mens’ Wearhouse, which surprisingly, had a vest color that matched all of the girls’ dresses very well. After the wedding, looking back on it from that day to now, there isn’t a thing I’d change. I had an amazing time, I was surrounded by friends and family who love me, and I got to eat a piece out of every single layer of that amazing wedding cake. =)”
